The Do Sol properties are located approximately half way between Lisbon in the South, Porto in the North, Spain in the East and the Atlantic coast in the West. The pace of life is slower here and the heat of the summer sun is matched by the warmth of the people. Visit any of the numerous restaurants, bars and cafes and you will find language doesn’t have to be a barrier to enjoying yourself with the locals.
Whether you enjoy the stunning mountain scenery and the rivers and peaks of the Serra Estrella or the beaches and sea of the renowned Silver Coast you are sure to return home relaxed and ready to take on the world again. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself with that constant urge to come back.
Central Portugal has a rich history from Coimbra, the capital of Portugal before Lisbon, to Tomar the location of the Convento de Christo and once home to the Templar Knights and Henry the Navigator. If you are interested in Roman history, there are numerous historical sites around Portugal.
Casa do Sol is five minutes’ drive from the village of Santiago de Guarda which, along with its counterparts in Rabaçal (12km) and Conimbriga (41km), hold the most important collections of Roman Mosaics in Portugal. The Holy site of Fatima is about 40km away and whether you are religious or not, it is well worth a visit. For the faithful, it is the most important site of pilgrimage in Portugal.
The Palaeontologists are about 140km from Lourinhã, home to the dinosaur museum, which is a must for those fascinated by these ancient species. Locally there are a number of river beaches if you don’t fancy the seaside (70km), or you could just relax by your own beautiful private swimming pool which both the Do Sol properties have to offer.
